Bows and Bow-ties

Last week I made bows and tow-ties. I got the how to's on a blog, but I can't find the blog back. WOOPS! So I will just say, I can not take full credit for this idea. I added words on the pictures to explain some steps a little more.

What You Need
Sewing machine (or if you aren't professional like me, hot glue)
Measuring tool
Writing utensil
Velcro (bow-tie only)

What you cut
3x20 (bow)
3.5x3 (around the middle of the bow)
What ever length you need x3 (strap)
*NOTE: If you are making the bow you do not make the strap*

1. Cut out a 3x20

2. Fold it like this... (with the print inside)

3. Then, Sew or Hot glue

4. Turn inside out, like so

5. It should come out looking something like this

6. Then,

7. Fold the two ends, meeting in the middle

8. Play around with the shape until you get the bow sort a look

Then you glue (or sew) the middle up.

For the middle band

Cut a 3.5x3

You then follow steps 2-6
Then twist/wrap the middle band around the middle of the bow

And secure it with hot glue or whatever

And your finished!

Bow tie strap
I did not take pics. making the strap.
You follow steps 1-6 from the bow. Then attach velcro on the ends.

Little Tote

Yesterday me and my sisters made totes/bags/purses (whatever you want to call them) with the help from my aunt and grandma. They turned out super cute! I don't have a tutorial but you can find the instructions here. Oh and they are reversible!

My bag
(owl pattern and pink polk-a-dot)
I still need to make a flower to finish off the bag
(I use it with the owl side on the outside)

Mandie's bag
(flower and green pold-a-dot fabric)
(she uses it with the flower side on the outside)

Marissa's bag
(Big polk-a-dot and solid purple fabric)
(she uses the big polk-a-dot side on the outside)

Flower Belt Tutorial

I got the idea to make a flower belt from Pink Lemonade.

Heres what you need

-old shirt/cloth
-Glue gun & glue sticks OR instead you can sew
-A circle to trace (I used a small bowl)

What you do

Trace circles on your cloth with a pencil (I made 13 circles)

Fold your circle in half

Fold it in half again, and glue on the fold (you could sew it, but I don't like sewing so I glued it)

Fold it one more time in half and glue on the fold again

When you have all your petals done, arrange them in a way to form a poofy flower.

Then glue them together (or sew)

Cut a large circle of felt and glue it to the back.

Next glue the ends of your elastic on the felt.

Cut another circle and put it over the elastic to cover it all up.

Tada! Your done!

Magnet boards, Jewelry boards, and a Pretty cake

My latest project was a magnet board and a jewelry board. They were both made the same, just decorated a little different.
(tutorial making the jewelry board)

We had this magnet stuff, I just cut a big 'ol  piece out with a fancy cutter thing.

Then I folded over the edges just so the board wouldn't lean up and scratch the wall.

Next I painted it with the blue paint let over from my room

I let it dry and then put a coat of modge podge over.

For the clips I used close pins. I did 3 with craft paper and 2 painted pink.

What you need for the clips
-cute paper
-foam brush
-modge podge

First cut trace the paper clip on the paper.

Then do a coat of modge podge and put the paper on the modge podge.

Then do another coat over top of the paper.

For the paint ones, just paint the clips and let dry

After that I hot glued on some super dupe strong magnets (for the jewelry board... for the magnet board I used wimpy magnets cause they would just hold pics.)

I decided to put on scrapbook paper cause they magnets were taking off the paint (not so sure why)

Next I hung it up using commands (handy dandy little things)

The finished product

(Jewelry board)

(Magnet board)

For this one, I cut out the f-r-i-e-n-d-s with a cricut
(oh how I love cricuts)

Now for pretty cake.
Today Melanie made a super cute cake, I just had to post pictures

Cute right! Delicious too!

Cake and Redone Bookshelf!

Okay, so I would have posted this like a week ago, but I was never able to get the pictures to load!

I had Melanie over a few weeks ago and she made a cake for me and my sisters b-day.

Here is what it turned out like:

It is darling right?!?

Well we also made/redid my bookshelf!

I do not have a before picture but if I did it would just be plain white.

The new and redone bookshelf...
(sorry do not know how to turn the picture)

We just used scrapbook paper and cut out letters from the cricket.

Have a great Saturday!
