Triangle Patchwork {Envelope} Pillow

If you aren't on Pinterest, bless your heart. While you are missing out on endless inspiration, you are saving your life from hours and hours on the computer.
But don't get me wrong, I love me some Pinterest.
With all these snow days we've been having I made the decisions to get some things crossed off my ever-so-long Pinterest to-do list. I came across this pillow from the ever so famous Craft Weekend, I was sold and had to make it. Then there's the envelope back pillow floating around, so why not combine them? Badibing-badiboo- Two projects done it one! #success

I'll tell you this, this is no speedy project. But I'd say the 3+ hours (don't judge, I get distracted.) it took me to make it was well worth it.

Did I mention that this project is a great way to use up that overabundant collection of scraps?

What You Need
Pillow
Triangle Template
Fabric for Triangles (this is a great way to use up scraps!)
Fabric for the back (envelope style)
Sewing Machine
Iron/Ironing Board
Thread
Scissors

Front Part of Pillow--Triangle

1. Start of by measuring the dimension of your pillow. Add and inch on all sides for seams.

2. Figure out the size you want to cut your triangles. Make a template out of card stock. (I lost the dimensions for my triangles. Sorry!)

3. Cut out enough triangles to cover the front, and hang over all the edges.  This takes quite some time, probably the longest step. If you can find a helper it goes a lot faster! (I bribed my sister :) ) At this point don't worry about what fabric goes where-- that part comes later!

I had 10 triangle each row, 4 rows= 40 triangles.

4. Once you get everything cut, iron every single triangle.

5. Now the fun part! Arrange the triangles in the order you want.

6. Sew the triangles row by row for now. Take your triangles and match up right sides.

7. Sew along the edge

8. After you sew every triangle press the triangle away from the seam. Repeat steps 6-8 until you get all your rows sewed.

9. You sew the rows together similar to how you sewed the triangles together. Take your rows and match up right sides.

10. Sew along the edges

11. Press rows away. Continue steps 9-11 until you have all the rows connected.

If it doesn't cover the front of the pillow perfectly, don't worry about it! The back will help you out.
For now, you are done with the front.

Envelope Back

1. Cut two pieces of fabric-- both so they cross the middle section of the pillow.

2. Fold one edge of each envelope piece over and sew it down.
3. Take your triangle front one part of the envelope. Sew them together, right sides together. Sew the bottom, then sew up the sides. Make sure to catch every triangle in the machine!

4. Repeat step 3 with your other envelope piece.

5. When you are done, you should have stitched all around the pillow.

6. Cut off any access fabric from the envelope back.

7. Insert your pillow and WALA! You got a pillow.

Go have a fiesta and make a pillow yourself!
What Pinterest pins are haunting you to get 'em done? What ones have you finished? I'd love to see!

What I Wore {Simple}

Most days you won't see me in a dress, or in jeggings + long shirt, but instead you'll see me in something like pj's today's outfit.

Top: Old Navy // Scarf: Gap // Jeans: WallFlower Vintage // Shoes: Old Navy

This sweater is super comfy, I recommend it to anybody. It also comes in many colors so if you feel like you have too much grey + black (but really, you can never have too much) there are other colors available :) Another plus, it was on sale for only $16 -- so hurry in.

(errr -- picture not focused on the correct item the boots)

I'm still loving these ankle boots - depending on if I actually wear them as ankle boots, or just regular shoes. If you don't have a pair, I also recommend getting a pair.

So, are your most favorite days the ones you're dressed in 'simple' clothes? I know mine are!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Dirt Road Diaries Tour {Recap}

As mentioned in this post, I said I would be attending the Luke Bryan concert! Let me tell you -- it was a steller concert.
Dare I say it was better than Carrie Underwoods?!?! Oops...just did.

Today I will be giving you a little recap on it, because I am pretty sure not everybody that read's this blog went :) If you want a little music to listen to in the background look up Luke Bryan...maybe that will make you feel more like you were actually there.

Before we start...I have to tell you that one of my highlights of attending a concert is seeing, feeling, and hearing the anticipation from the crowd on their feet with hands waving while waiting for the performer to start, or the next song. I just love the vibe that it brings!

Luke had two groups open for him -- Florida Georgia Line, and Thompson Square.

First up was Florida Georgia Line. The definitely started the show off with a fantastic amount of energy. Even though I did not know 1 or 2 of their songs, it was still an awesome start to the show!

Favorite Performances of Florida Georgia Line: Cruise and Get Your Shine On

After FGL, there was Thompson Square. The energy from FGL kept on going with their performance as well!

The lights that they had going on while they were singing were crazy cool -- what do you think of that phrase...crazy cool :)

Favorites from Thompson Square: I Got You, and Glass {During Glass they showed pictures from their trip to Honduras, and it was really sweet to watch!}

And then all the good out-standing stuff happened. It was time for LUKE BRYAN! The energy was a million times better than the first two for him! We stood the entire time...you know the person that is always waving their hands...singing their hearts out...and moving side to side? Yah, that was us! I can't really describe how he performs, but it is awesome -- it is the type of thing where you have to be there to get what I'm saying.

Favorites from Luke Bryan: I Don't Want This Night To End, and Rain Is A Good Thing

Overall, I loved loved loved the concert and I'm telling you that if you even get the chance to see Luke perform...you better take it!

Thank you so much Rachel + Katelyn for coming with me...I hope you had a blast too!

The Newest Addition

I don't know if you have noticed, but we added a little new device to the blog.
It's really long overdue, but we are proud to announce that there is a Pin It button after each post.
You may not see it at first, (you actually have to click on the post to use it) but trust me it's there! Here's your proof.
Like I said, if you want to pin something, click on the post for the button to appear.

Now, I am no scientist, so I couldn't do this on my own. Thanks to this youtube video, and this article I got the job done!

What I Wore {Pink + Ankle Boots}

This outfit was a huge step out of my comfort zone. I have never worn jeggings before, but did. I have never paired two different pinks together, and I did. Plus I have never worn ankle boots/heels before. But, I have to say -- I LOVED it and it was super comfy. A win-win situation!

And boo for such dark pictures.

(You can't see this, but the shirt is like a high-low and goes down in the back!)

I plan on wearing this to the concert I will be attending on Saturday night. Luke Bryan's concert -- yup! It's going to be awesome I already know it.  (Maybe a recap will happen :))

Jeggings: Target // Top: Gap // Booties: Old Navy // Necklace: Craft Show

I thought it was fitting that I wore pink + pink without even knowing remembering that Valentines day is only a day away.

Have you joined the ankle boots trend yet? How are you wearing them? I'd love to know!

{As always, I am linking up with The Pleated Poppy  and Get Your Pretty On -- head over there to see more outfits!}

Enjoy your valentines day tomorrow! Hope it's the best one yet!

Ombre Dot Heart

If you know me, you probably know that I am majorly in love with polka-dots. Can anyone else relate with my unending love for a pattern? So with Valentines Day coming up, a little polka dot love had to be displayed. Hearts, coral, and polka dots just sounded perfect.
This idea came to me through this darling canvas bag. I didn't have a canvas bag hanging around waiting for a makeover, so I turned to paper.
It's literally too easy: 5 supplies, 5 steps, and takes 5-10 minutes! 5 cheers for a cute, easy project!

What You Need
Paper (enough for the paper with the heart + heart template)
Paint (color + white)
Pencil (with a flat eraser)
Painters tape
Scissors

1. Cut out a heart

2. Tape the heart down to your piece of paper you want to stamp the heart on

3. Dip you pencil eraser into the paint and dab onto the heart. When you dab by the edges, press them down so the paint doesn't bleed through.

4. Continue filling the heart by adding white to the your original color and keep dabbing the paint on. Before I switched to a new color I would dab all the paint off the eraser-- you can see some dots aren't as paint filled as others. To make it 'flow' add some of the previous color into your new color.

5. Carefully peel the tape off. Frame it or do whatever you please!

Sweet! Now you have some Valentines decor, or really year round decor. You could easily do this with any shape/picture and it doesn't necessarily have to be ombre! Veeeerrry versatile.
I'd love to see what you come up with!
(an owl would sure be cute... I might have to get on that)

Happy Heart Week

Annndd as of 11 days ago it is officially the month of hearts, pink, and chocolate!
With Valentines Day less than 5 days away I've only made one single craft associated with V-day (coming soon!). Since I am so behind on this particular holiday, I've turned to Pinterest to boost your Valentine ideas (as well as mine).

Turn your chalkboard into Valentines decor with a "happy heart" banner and loving Bible verse.

Here's some cute little heart cookies for the sugar loving folks out there.

Valentines Day wouldn't be complete without a little burlap banner now would it?

Then we have some cutesee pink heart totes.

And to top it all off, a Bible verse that ties this week together.

What are you crafting up this Valentines season?
