What I Wore {Patterned Shorts}

For some people they cave and splurge on purses, jewelry, shoes (guilty!), kitchen ware, or whatever may be your soft spot. For me shorts, shoes, and cardigans are my top three things that get me every time I see some that are calling my name.

 . lace shirt: T.J.Maxx | shorts: Gap | necklace: Old Navy

When I spotted these shorts at Gap (actually my sister did. But I stole the idea to try them on) it was love at first sight. I'm all for printed pants. As long as they steer clear of floral prints. (Floral prints on me (other than a shirt/scarf/dress) is a disaster). Then I tried them on and I was positive these babys would be coming home with me that day.
The only hesitation I had was "how on earth am I gonna find shirts that flow with these shorts?" and of course money signs were flashing through my head.

Sure enough, the price was a little steep for me. Maybe that's cause I'm Dutch, or because I don't have a steady income, but I was determined. But, with a few coupons in hand it lifted a burden.
And for finding shirt combos? No problem. I question why my little heart was worried. I love to spice up a traditional lace shirt at any chance I get and statement shorts seemed like the perfect opportunity!

With summer here in 2 DAYS (AHHH!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM. Actually you probably can tell by the capital letters and explanation marks) I'll probably end up wearing these every day for the next 3 months. Just kidding. People might start to wonder about me and send me out on a shopping spree so I can get a variety of shorts.
What things are you daringly adding to your summer wardrobe? Or what do you have to buy at every shopping trip?

On complete side note: Sorry for the lack of posting. We are finishing the year out strong and studying our minds out for exams. Next week our lives should be out of the textbooks and back to normal!

From Sassy to Sophisticated

It doesn't look like we are in Kansas anymore... eeer Two Girls and a Glue Gun land anymore.
If you are frantically checking to make sure you punched in the right web adress, or clicked the right bookmark I assure you, you are still in Two Girls and a Glue Gun... just with a new little twist.

So obviously since you aren't at a different website we got a face lift! Just in time for summer. I don't think the timing could be more perfect with school wrapping up in a few and all.

The design was in the works for quite some time. Seriously, it took us ages to figure out what our new envision of our blog would be. It was such a task that we had to make a Pinterest board with ideas on it. We went through design after design, color combo after color combo, and fonts after fonts. Until... our eyes laid on the pretty inspiration above. And it was like a slap in the face. Ok, maybe exaggeration,  but we decided to go from sassy to a more sophisticated look with roses and peonies and lilacs in the mix. And we couldn't love it any more! We are so excited to show it to you guys.

So here are the details:
-We did the design on paper and fancied it up in photoshop (possible tutorial on the how to of this part)
-Our color combo is the one above

With a new look it called for a photo shoot for our bloggity blog! There are a few previews in our about pages (now found on the sidebar-- and have new about content!), but maybe a possible full reveal of the pictures to come!

As much as we loved our old design... out with the old and in with the new!

You can see info on our old design here

Hope you love the look as much as we do!

What I Wore {Go-To Outfit}

Guys, we only have 3 full days left of school and 4 half days. That is 40 hours, at school, altogether until my freshman year is done. My concentration is dying...fast. I can't wait for summer. Can. Not. Wait.

Since school is coming to a close, my idea of waking up in the morning and getting ready is not really there. I've been sleeping in till the last seconds aka until my mom comes down for the 101st time to tell me to get up. Therefore, I've been doing a lot of these outfits. Capri's + V-neck + Necklace + Flip Flops.

Top: Old Navy // Pants: Khols // Flip-Flops: Target (way old) // Necklace: Craft Show <-- I wear that a lot, have you noticed :)

glasses glare, other glasses people - don't you hate this?!

What is your go-to outfit? I'd love to know -- maybe it will help me change mine up!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
I'm off to finish the last pieces of homework, write essay's, and study study study for exams.

5 Things Friday {Trying To Pull This Off...}

Two of my favorite people to follow on Instagram (@taylorkruithof) are Kendi Everyday + The Shine Project
Have you seen their style? I want both their closets, all of it.
Not to mention their hair is STELLER!

5 things that I wish I could pull off:

Whenever I try this concept I look horrible. But, it looks great on everybody else. Maybe I'm trying the wrong color's together, who knows. I'll have to experiment this summer...then come back with the results.

Megan is fantastic at pulling this off! Me on the other hand just can't seem to find the right pieces to mix. I love how in this outfit not both pattern's are big + bold. Simple polka dots and bold stripes. This could be the key.

I've got one part of this outfit down...the maxi skirt. Now I'll just have to find a tee to knot -- I don't normally buy them big enough to do that :)

Pretty sure I look like Santa Claus when I try this. I'll stop here.

I try to get loose curls every weekend. I've had it turn out maybe once?! But my hair is back to the before in an hour. Any tips?

Look here to see many more of their outfits I love.

What are your thoughts on these trends? Can you pull them off?

Have a lovely weekend.

What I Wore {Let's Bundle Up Instead}

Ever have those days when you are dreaming of wearing this one outfit, but you wake up and it is like -2 degrees not 80? Okay, maybe that is a little exaggeration, but you get the idea.

I have a lot of those -- must not watch the weather channel enough :) OR we'll just blame crazy MI for all the climate changes.

My plan for this day was to wear a {new} summery shirt, {new} capri's and bust out the flips flops. Welp, we might as well just categorize that with the idea of having a perfect hair day everyday. <--- i dream of that happening, please say i'm not alone here.

^ see the flooding field in the back, gloomy sky, random leaves + hay + sticks in the yard. That's the result of one day being super sunny, and the next being super rainy.

Top: J.Crew {on sale} // White Tank: Old Navy // Jeans: The Hive // Shoes: Payless // Necklace: Craft Show // Coral Spring Coat: Old Navy

So, I decided to wear bright colors to cheer myself up. Yellow always does the trick in my opinion. Then add in some hot pink, a coral coat and dream of laying on the beach in California.

About those new items I mentioned earlier in this post? I have great news -- the weather has been warming up perfectly, I've been wearing them, and am planning on showing them off to you soon :)

Do you ever have those types of days? What would your perfect outfit + day be? I'd love to hear!

Taylor

p.s. Summer's is almost here -- 9.5 more days of school -- expect better outfit's coming your way.

5 Things Friday {Craving Summer}

We have 21 days until school is out and we have ourselves a pretty nice 3 month break (more like 2 1/2 months but 3 sounds better right now). AND THAT'S INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND EXAM WEEK. (pardon if that was a little too enthusiastic) But who's counting. right?
Pinterest is making these last 3 weeks drag on and daunting with the lastest pins of summer wear, crafts, home decor, gardening tips, and summertime food.
So without further a-do-- here are my top 5 summer related pins.

One last interruption: You can follow me on Pinterest here

I'm not sure about you, but bushes in abundance flowers surrounding a white farmhouse is what I call the perfect picture of summer.

My lastest food obsession has been frozen yogurt. I guess that comes with the anticipation of summer.

What would summer be without a light, casual dress?

With this massive gold rush (baha-- not the history book kind) who wouldn't love a GLITTER + GOLD (my favorite right now) vase to display their lovely flowers?

A color scheme inspired by a beach. I'd call that summer.

Have a fabulous weekend!

What I Wore {Diggin' This Trench}

If I'm following trends correctly, this spring trench coats are quit 'in'.  For a while I'd been crushing over this style of coat (especially these: #1, #2, #3), and since my previous spring coat was bought in 6th grade and I was busting out of it, I casually mentioned the idea of a trench coat for spring to my mom and to keep her eyes peeled.

Coat: second hand store. VERY similar one here (even in similar color!) | Skinny Jeans DIY |  Sandals: Target (last year)

To my pleasant surprise, the day after I mentioned a trench coat to her I came home from school and found this baby hanging in the closet. I was floored. I loooved it and the color. I never imagined that a dandelion yellow would look decent against my majorly pale skin tone. But, it proved me wrong and now I wear it during 80˚ weather cause I love it that much. To top things off this coat was from a 2nd hand store, so it was a fraction of the cost of a new coat (but still in steller shape). BRILLIANT.

Like I said, I wear this in 80˚ weather. Yes, I'm not lying I did that one day, and decided that that idea was for the birds.
The thing is this year Michigan weather was crazy and brushed over spring. We went from winter to summer with a transition of 3 days of spring. Cah-razy. So unfortunately, unless I get a few cool days in May, it looks like I'll have to wait till September to rock this coat in public again. But that's ok. It gives me something to look forward to :).

One of my favorite features to my yellow trench would have to be the pleated back. LEERVE.

So what do ya say? Do you have a certain piece of spring, (or summer) clothing that you really have your eyes on? I'd love to hear!

What I Wore {Everyone Needs a Maxi Dress}

Hey again readers! It's been so long since you've seen me around here! I'd explain, but I think you'd get bored hearing about it. You're Welcome :)

As Megan mentioned in this post, we went to IKEA + an outlet mall during spring break. Although I didn't get much at IKEA {I'll show you sometime}, I did get some new clothes. I mean, how can you go {clothes or anything} shopping without buying something?! If you can, you are a wonder-women.

Megan and I actually both tried on this dress. It started out with just doing it for fun. Why would I look good in a maxi dress? I'm short! But, once I stepped out of the dressing room Megan and Melanie said they loved it. So, I reconsidered it :) and as you can see -- I bought it.

(no picture's of my face because it was super sunny out, and if you've ever tried to take pictures on a sunny day you know what I'm talking about -- not a good combo)

Dress: Gap // Cardigan: Old Navy // Flip Flops: Target (very old)

Even if you were like me and didn't think you'd look good in one, try it out! You may be surprised like me and they are oh-so comfy!

Enjoy the rest of this spring/summer weather week!

Taylor
